Hi! My name is Lauren Cristina López, and I was born and raised in Miami, FL. Growing up in a Cuban-American household, I was always engulfed in music: listening to my father singing and playing guitar and rehearsing with his latin-fusion band, attending operas with my grandfather from a very young age, constantly dancing to salsa music around the house from the moment I could walk, and making CDs with my dad of our favorite songs to sing together in the car.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Florida International University, where I focused on Music Education, worked as a learning assistant for music theory and sight singing, and had professors and performance opportunities that truly changed my life and made me the performer I am today.
I've been performing around South Florida for 10+ years singing in concerts, performing in plays or musicals, singing weddings and special events, serving as a reader for new plays, and singing as a guest artist for young students. I've also been teaching the performing arts as a music theory or sight singing tutor, a substitute teacher, a choreographer, a director, or a guest artist/speaker.
I'm passionate about the performing arts because I believe the arts are the universal language we can all use to connect, relate to one another, and understand each other. Whether it be music, film, a play or musical, or any other form of performance, the artist and receiving audience get to be present in the moment and connect through a collective emotional experience. It's also a way of hearing stories from groups of people you may not know about, allowing us to grow in our understanding of the world and also just to be more compassionate toward each other.
Besides the arts and education, I love traveling and exploring new places, hanging out on the beach or by the pool with friends, re-watching my favorite Disney movies, or trying new things and making new friends!
